About the

Rachel Johnson, LMSW

Stress, anxiety, feelings of sadness and burn out can feel paralyzing at times. It may be difficult to express these thoughts and feelings to family, partners, parents or best friends. You may want and need something different for yourself, but the idea of getting started may overwhelm you. As your therapist, my focus is to help provide support in a nurturing and empathic environment so you do not have to feel alone during this journey.

Therapy offers a safe place to share the struggles that we face in this world. I walk alongside you to reach your goals, rediscover your strengths, assist you in coping with the hardships, begin to heal and gain peace. I create a safe and comfortable space where you are in control of your own goals in treatment.

I graduated from Michigan State University (Go Green!) with a Masters of Social Work and from Rochester College with a Bachelors in Counseling Psychology.  I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults for 15 years in various capacities including residential treatment, emergency shelter, and private practice.

Everyone deserves to love themself, believe in themself, and feel confident in their abilities. While this may be difficult at times and sometimes even seem impossible, my clients know I am passionate about supporting them and offering them the tools to be the best people they can be. As a Licensed Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist with a 30-year career, I work with my clients to empower them to create a better quality of life. I support adults, adolescents (children), families, and couples toward their individualized goals.

I completed my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Michigan State University and received a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University. I combine my formal education, extensive experience, and passion to support my clients struggling with many issues, including depression, anxiety, stress, adjustment, mood disorders, self-esteem, confidence, aging, weight, infertility, pain, eating disorders, and chronic illness. I am experienced in utilizing evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Humanistic Strength Therapy approaches.  Utilizing personalized treatment to meet each person’s individualized needs to achieve the growth they hope for and deserve. Working with me, you can expect a warm and caring relationship in a nonjudgmental, confidential atmosphere. I am committed to helping clients develop their skills on their journey to uncover new, healthier ways to release emotional blocks and cope with life's many challenges.
